Four Rivers Heritage Area Celebration of Maryland Day, join us for an introduction to Hancock's Resolution, an historic farm park in northern Anne Arundel County. Hancock's Resolution docent Dianne Feeney will highlight the historic significance of this 26 acre property and the people who worked the land. The history of Hancock's Resolution is in many ways a microcosm of broader changes in the agricultural economy of the Chesapeake Bay region from the 17th through the 20th centuries. With easy access to the bay, this area initially supported plantations of tobacco and diversified crops. By the 19th century the farm was producing fruits and vegetables for the Baltimore market. Today, Hancock's Resolution is surrounded by suburban water-access residential communities. The farm is operated by Friends of Hancock Resolution volunteers and Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks. With our newly constructed barn/visitor center we look forward to developing future in person programming to share the stories of this unique site.
Registrants for this program will receive a Zoom link via email.
