Director Charles Burnett’s Killer of Sheep depicts the culture of a urban African-American family in the Watts district of Los Angeles. Shot on a very limited budget, Killer of Sheep has been recognized as one of the finest independent American movies of the 20th century and was one of the first 50 films chosen for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
