Dred Scott v. Sanford. Plessy v. Ferguson. Brown versus the Board of Education. Roe V. Wade. Proposition 8. Voting Rights Act of 1965. Each of these legal decisions profoundly affected the lives of millions of Americans. Racial inequality. Segregation. A women’s right to choose. Marriage equality. Eliminating voter suppression. All were set in motion due to elections which ultimately put specific judges and legislators in place. Those votes were placed by citizens just as there exist today whose lives will be directly affected by the 2020 choice of a U.S. President, a Senate majority, and very likely, a new lifetime member of the United States Supreme Court.
